SINE DIE STATEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 13, 2026
Statement from Delegate Denise G. Roberts on the Adjournment of the 2026 Maryland Legislative Session
ANNAPOLIS, MD — At midnight, the Maryland House of Delegates adjourned sine die, officially closing the 2026 legislative session. Delegate Denise G. Roberts, representing District 25 in Prince George's County, issued the following statement.
On Serving District 25:
"When that gavel came down today, my first thought was not about titles or committees or legislation. My first thought was about the people of District 25 who trusted me to walk into that building and fight for them. I hope I honored that trust every single day."
On the Work of the Session:
This session, Delegate Roberts served on the Economic Matters Committee, where she advocated for small business access, economic development, and legislation that creates real opportunity for Prince George's County residents and entrepreneurs.
As Deputy Majority Whip, Delegate Roberts played a central role in building consensus and ensuring that priority legislation had the support needed to move forward in the House.
As founder of the B-Real Caucus, a coalition of Black women legislators who own rental property and collectively review tenant-landlord legislation, Delegate Roberts brought an informed and grounded perspective to every housing vote cast this session.
Effective upon adjournment, Delegate Roberts assumes her role as 1st Vice Chair of the Maryland Women's Caucus, a position she will use to advance the interests of women and families across the state.
On the Issues That Matter Most to District 25:
Delegate Roberts prioritized the following areas throughout the 2026 session:
Affordability and Utility Costs: Fighting for legislation that reduces the financial burden on working families and seniors on fixed incomes.
Community Safety: Supporting investments in safe communities where every resident, from the youngest child to the oldest senior, can live with peace and security.
Education Equity: Advocating for every District 25 child to have access to strong, well-resourced schools regardless of their zip code.
Economic Opportunity: Championing small business development, minority business access, and economic growth that reaches and uplifts our community.
Accountability: Maintaining a transparent record of votes, positions, and legislative activity so that every constituent can see exactly how their Delegate serves them.
Looking Ahead:
"The session closes. The service continues. I am coming home to District 25 to do the community work that does not happen in Annapolis. And on June 23rd, I am asking the voters of District 25 for the privilege of going back to Annapolis to fight even harder in the next session."
