ANNAPOLIS, MD, April 13, 2026 — The Maryland General Assembly adjourned sine die today, concluding the 2026 legislative session. Delegate Denise G. Roberts, who represents District 25 in Prince George's County, closed the session having delivered on her core commitments to economic opportunity, housing policy, education equity, community safety, and accountability for her constituents.
"I walked into this session with a purpose and I walked out with a record," said Delegate Roberts. "Every vote I cast, I cast with District 25 on my mind. The gavel is down but the work does not stop."
Legislative Accomplishments and Priorities
Serving on the Economic Matters Committee, Delegate Roberts advocated for legislation supporting small business development, minority business access, reduced regulatory barriers, and economic growth that reaches Prince George's County communities directly. She prioritized affordability measures targeting rising utility costs that disproportionately burden working families and seniors on fixed incomes.
As Deputy Majority Whip, Delegate Roberts played a key leadership role in building caucus consensus and advancing priority legislation through the House of Delegates. The position placed her at the center of vote strategy and negotiation throughout the session, including during an intensive final week that included some all-day Saturday sessions.
B-Real Caucus
Delegate Roberts continued her work as founder of the B-Real Caucus, a coalition of Black women legislators who own rental property and collectively review tenant-landlord legislation before voting. The caucus, which she created to bring lived experience to housing policy decisions, reviewed multiple pieces of housing legislation this session.
"Good housing policy requires people in the room who actually understand how housing works," said Delegate Roberts. "The B-Real Caucus exists because that perspective was missing and our community was paying the price for its absence."
Women's Caucus Leadership
Effective upon adjournment of the 2026 session, Delegate Roberts assumes her role as 1st Vice Chair of the Maryland Women's Caucus, a leadership position she will use to advance the interests of women, families, and communities across the state.
Priorities Carried into the Community
Delegate Roberts identified the following as her core commitments for District 25 constituents in the post-session period and heading into the June 23rd Democratic Primary:
Reducing utility costs and improving affordability for working families and seniors. Strengthening community safety infrastructure. Advancing education equity for all District 25 students. Expanding economic opportunity and small business support. Maintaining full transparency and accountability to constituents.
Looking Ahead
Delegate Roberts is running for her first full elected term in the June 23, 2026 Democratic Primary. Early voting runs June 11 through June 18.
"The session closes. The service continues," said Delegate Roberts. "I am coming home to District 25. And on June 23rd I am asking for the privilege of going back to Annapolis to fight even harder for the community that trusted me with this honor."
