Maryland's U.S. Senator Stands Behind Incumbent Delegate Roberts Ahead of June 23rd Democratic Primary
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Delegate Denise G. Roberts, State Delegate for District 25 in Prince George's County, today announced the endorsement of United States Senator Angela Alsobrooks in her campaign for her first elected term in the Maryland House of Delegates.
Senator Alsobrooks, who represented Prince George's County as County Executive before being elected to the United States Senate, issued the following statement:
"Denise Roberts is exactly the kind of leader District 25 deserves. I have watched her grow from a dedicated community advocate into one of the most effective legislators in Annapolis. As Deputy Majority Whip, 1st Vice President of the Women Legislators of Maryland, and founder of the B-Real Caucus, she understands what it means to lead with commitment and compassion. District 25 is my home too. And I am so proud to call Denise Roberts my neighbor, my colleague, and my vote when we re-elect her as our Delegate on June 23rd."
Delegate Roberts responded with the following statement:
"Senator Alsobrooks built her career on showing up for Prince George's County. Her endorsement means the world to me because it comes from someone who knows what this community needs and what real leadership looks like. I am honored to have her voice and her support as we head into the final weeks of this campaign."
Delegate Roberts was appointed to the Maryland House of Delegates on January 8, 2024, representing District 25 in Prince George's County. In three legislative sessions she has passed or advanced multiple pieces of legislation, secured over $225,000 in independent budget appropriations for Prince George's County, and helped deliver $65.58 million in capital investments for District 25 as part of the District 25 delegation.
She serves on the Economic Matters Committee, holds the position of Deputy Majority Whip, serves as 1st Vice President of the Women Legislators of Maryland, and was recently named co-chair of the Black Wealth Committee for the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland. Delegate Roberts also founded the B-Real Caucus, a coalition of Black women legislators who own real estate and review housing legislation together before voting.
This endorsement follows the endorsement of Governor Wes Moore, announced earlier this week, as well as endorsements from the Maryland State Education Association, AFSCME Maryland, CASA, and a growing coalition of community and labor organizations.
The Democratic Primary for District 25 is June 23, 2026. Early voting runs June 11 through June 18, 2026.
